dell laptop only lights the keyboard on battery power
I have a dell latitude 7280 that has a new battery. The laptop only lights the keyboard once turned on while on battery alone. I have to connect the charger for it completely boot up.
The laptop is able to run on battery alone okay but needs to be on charger to turn on screen
Kindly advise

Does the system sense the battery correctly (F2 at powerup to check)?
OEM battery or third party?

This is a 2017 model system, so any OEM battery probably is at least a few years old even if it has never been used.
In the absence of any other symptoms, ask your seller to replace the battery.

Would be very typical as I recently experienced on my two Latitude.
Only after a CMOS Clear did the notebook ran alone with the new battery.
The same behavior for both 7490.
Would a BIOS reset also do the same? In this case, don't believe that you would have to try it.
If you have exchanged the battery yourself, a CMOS Clear would not be a problem for you (because the base plate has to be unscrewed briefly).
