Keyboard issues with new Dell XPS13 (2015)
I have just started to us the new Dell XPS 13 (with Touchscreen).
The issue being faced is with the 'Spacebar'. If tapped on the right edge it inserts a double space! This happens if the keystroke is held for a slightly long duration.
I have reduced the repeat rate and the repeat delay but it doesnt solve the problem.
Any ideas?

Hi Camerican ,
If the same issue is seen with external keyboard then its a software issue else if the external keyboard works fine then keyboard replacement should fix the issue .
I hope this helps,if there are more queries write to us with the service tag of the system sent via private message .
Kindest Regards

That happens to me as well, but well spotted that it happens more if you tap on the right edge.

I think it's actually just edge.. I'll have to change my typing style a bit..
Dell, you are bad, for a laptop of this price, even with bios 05 this doesn't work well.
Never happened in my life before, shame on you

Hi @Aterreno,
Regret the inconvenience caused ! But the I would ask you to confirm if the issue is seen only with the keys L and K or with all of them .
And also advise if the issue is seen with external keyboard .
Awaiting your response .

Hi the issue happens whenever I use the space bar, I've used the l and k just to type something quickly.
The issue does not happen when using an external keyboard.
I am in fact, forced to use an external keyboard in order to be able to type at my usual (Fast) speed.
The Situation improved a tiny bit with the bios A05 but it's still present.

I bought a non-touch XPS 13 with windows 10 last week and I'm having the same issues with the space key. The machine came with the A05 bios and I already tried lowering the repeat delay in keyboard settings to no avail. I've typed a bit with an external keyboard and I haven't experienced any double spaces on it.
Needless to say, this is very annoying. This would be unacceptable on any laptop but the fact that this is a premium machine makes it even harder to swallow. I'm hesitant to even get a replacement given how common this issue seems to be from searching online a bit.

Hi,
Yes I've performed the steps above and like I said I don't seem to be getting the problem with an external keyboard. The spacebar also seems to be the only culprit.
I'm sending the service tag, thanks for any help.
(I've typed this message on my XPS 13 and as you can see I've had 3 cases of double spaces)

I'm having the same issue here. I tried with an external keyboard and the problem didn't presented itself.
I have the Bios 05 version (my laptop arrived this week).
This problem is really annoying. Please help!

I too am having trouble with repeat keys. When I type, "asdf" at the speed that I normally type it, I get the right answer only about 1 in 20 tries. For example, here are three attempts: asdff asdsdf assdf asdsf asdfd. Ok, I repeated it a few extra times since it is a repeat key problem. :-) I've installed every bios updaate since the machine came out. The machine has spent most of its life on the desk of my IT person who was supposed to see if he could get it fixed. (Now, he has moved on to a new job, so it is back in my lap.) Can I get a trade to see if other hardware works better? Or are they all working pretty much the same?
thanks,
dean

I would not bother talking to DELL, Bios 06 is on its way and that should fix it.
If it doesn't I would ask DELL for a full refund and then go and buy a mac or a Carbon X1.
Don't try to fix the issue yourself, as I did (replacing wifi card with an intel one) because that might void the warranty.
Not sure if you have a developer edition (linux) or a windows box, if you get in touch with DELL be prepared for them saying that they have a better support on Windows.
The OS doesn't matter, the sad truth is that DELL is selling an expensive machine for months now and the keyboard just doesn't work.
External keyboards will do, if you are up for work arounds.
