XPS M1530 WEBCAM
Hi I'm new to the forum so be gentle with me. My integrated webcam for the XPS M1530 is no longer recognising the camera and computer says 'no camera attached'.
I recently successfully installed a Dell All in One Printer which is working OK. I have made a video and took a snap or two when I first got the laptop (only three months ago). Why does the Webcam Manager no longer recognise the camera (same applies when I try to start a video).
Regards,
Charlie

Welcome to the forums Charlie :smileyhappy:
Have you tried updating or re-installing the webcam drivers?
They can be found under 'Input Device Drivers' here.
And the 'Webcam Manager' is under 'Applications' if you need it :smileywink:

Cheers Dude or Dudess whichever applies. Downloading a large file update from Dell after following your lead. Will see if that works. If not will uninstall then re-install via CD and see if that works. Thanks enjoy your beer.

Ok tried uninstalling webcam manager and reinstalling from CD. That failed. Tried diagnostics test and although tht seemed to shoe an error on DVD/RW cant see how thats related. Phoned premium hotline tech support (in India) and he wants to restore to factory settings and says my software is corrupted. Cant see how this can be correct. I think its either a hardware or I am just being stupid and not pressing a camera on button.
When starting up should blue LED for camera be on automatically?
Before entering Webcam Manager/Console should I be enabling the camera by pressing any keys or buttons that I am unaware of?
Assume wife put laptop in hibernation mode can this have affected the camera?
If I allow tech in India to go back to factory settings does this guarabtee me a result?

Charlie

Oh, it will fix it..until you re-install your Printer!!
Since I am still waiting for my XPS M1530 to arrive, I am guessing here, but...
Looks like the "tech Support" knows next to nothing of Computers, as from reading here in the Forum, there standard fix is to: "uninstall and reinstall"
My guess is that the issue is with the "USB" devices.
I am assuming that your Printer is attached via USB?
Have a look in "Device Manager" and see if you can see your Camera or something like an unknown device.
See if you can point "the unknown device" towards your camera device driver.
