Inspiron 1525 webcam not working
Trying to sort out my non functioning webcam and followed the steps listed in the help pages below...only trouble is the Dell website never gets beyond the scan, it just sits there and scans for 30 minutes plus so I never get a chance to check and download software. As I have the latest Explorer and no internet problems anywhere I can only assume the Dell website is not working... Any other suggestions on a driver or how to get my webcam working without Dell?
Reinstall the Webcam Central Software |
To download the latest version of Webcam Central for your Dell computer, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to the Dell Support Website
- Click My Account in the upper right corner and sign in with your Dell My Account in the popup box provided.
- Under the My Software section on the right side of the page, click "Download Factory Installed Software (My Dell Downloads)".
- Click the checkbox that agrees to the Terms and Conditions of the My Dell Downloads website and click Register System at the bottom of the page
Note:
This registration requires a download and scan of your Dell system that is only functional with Internet Explorer. It will not function on Firefox or Google Chrome browsers. This scan can take up to five minutes

kevmid,
A couple of questions...
Do you have Internet Explorer 9 installed?
Is the webcam listed in the device manager?
If so, can you rollback the driver?

Hi Rick,
I downloaded internet explorer 9 to retry the dell software back on the computer but have always used firefox. The webcam is not listed in the device manager.

kevmid,
We checked back to around the time we started seeing webcam issues and saw that IE9, Windows 7 SP1 and drivers were also updated.
I suspect the webcam wire came loose of cam off. If the computer is under warranty, then contact Dell Tech Support to get repaired.
I don't thin this will work, btu it might not hurt to try...
Test Webcam

kevmid,
Does the webcam show under imaging devices in the device manager? If ues, do you have Microsoft Silverlight installed?
If yes, start, all programs Microsoft Silverlight, Webcam and Mic.
Can you see yourself? If no, try changing the dropdown menu for the webcam. If no menu, Try uninstalling Microsoft Silverlight.
What happens?

Try running the Webcam Diagnostics and post the results back here.
