Microsoft Cluster File Share Witness on Isilon share?

Hello,

Is anyone using an Isilon CIFS share for a Microsoft Cluster File Share Witness quorum share? We are on OneFS 8.1.0.4. We use CIFS shares on our Isilon cluster as File Share Witness for a number of our Microsoft SQL clusters. We have seen intermittent failures with the FSW (errors 1564, 1069, 1562).

The following white-paper is pretty old. They do not recommend using SMB3-CA which we have not enabled in our case. Also hasn't been updated in a while. Other folks appear to have similar issues with instability.

Wondering if anyone has been able to get a Microsoft FSW to work reliably.

Hello, I have multiple cluster with a Jile Share Witness on Isilon and experiencing the same issue. Did you got confirmation that Isilon was the root cause? Have you find a solution. Thank you

Hello Josh,

I think the problem is with "SmartConnect".
If I configure the fileshare Witness with the IP address (instead of the hostname... we have 10 nodes) it always works!

OneFS 9.5. I have to verify if 'Continuous Availability' ie enabled, right?

yes it should be enabled, but I guess you could try turning it off and see if it improves.
