metadataiq setup
attempting to setup metadataiq on a simulator before rolling out into production and cannot get it to generate anydata, I can see files being scanning and changelist jobs seeing #of files modified etc.. however the checkpoint json files are all 0kb in /ifs/.ifsvar/modules/metadataiq/cp/ and nothing gets transfered to the elasticsearch db server
has anyone else managed to get this setup correctly? I can validate connectivty to the server, but the isi_metadata_transfer doesn't seem to have any logging to see whats going on - any ideas?

Hello storageSysAdmin,
Which version of the simulator are you using? Which version of Isilon system are you using in the simulator?

9.10 we are using,
it looks like it connects, but seems to send little to no info - attempting to force change files on the system to generate enough info for the change lists but its still unclear if its working, little appears on the server.

@DELL-Sam L our simulator crashed over the weekend - i'm not sure if it was due to the MetadataIQ config but even after bringing it back online had to resync to get it to connect again - but still seems of limited value. If we have a valid support contract with a powerscale cluster it would be good if we could get support on our simulator - as we dont want to configure this on our production powerscale until we know its impact etc..
my main concern is the domaintag process that kicks of to analyse every file - which with 100millions of files i'm not sure if that will impact other running jobs on the cluster.

Hello storageSysAdmin,
The domaintag is a a low process that will not use more than 30% of cpu utilization on a powerscale system. You will see small changes until all files are scanned and there has been a baseline for all files has been created.
