Isilon NFS exports client list significance

By default , when we don't define any ip in the export list all clients will have a read-write access. If i define a IP or client name in the read-write-clients or client list only those clients will have the read-write access. I am trying to understand why do we need to have both options ( read-write-client and client list) for doing the same function?

Thanks

Hello Saran,

We recommend that you configure both just in case your Isilon can’t get an acknowledgement form one or the other. Most of the time your Isilon will pull the information from cache as it is faster. If it can’t be pulled from cache then it will use the Read-Write client list first, if it can’t access that list then it will use the client list.
