Is it possible to upgrade Isilon 7.2.0.1 simulator to 7.2.1.0?
I am trying to setup my locall PHD/Isilon environment but PHD needs Isilon version 7.2.1.0 however simulator is available for 7.2.0.1
Is there any file available to upgrade Isilon 7.2.0.1 to 7.2.1.0?
I read release notes where it say I need to upgrade to 7.2.0.2 first then I can upgrade to 7.2.1.0
I couldn't find any of the upgrade file on emc support website..
any help is highly appreciated..
Sandeep

Hello Sandeep,
This is a multi-layered. The short is yes. There was and should be a 7.2.1.1 (currently the recommended release as of writing) simulator. I searched and couldn't find it. However, I found a related article that has a link that did work, I will talk with IT about resolving this but for the time being please try:
https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL62167_Isilon_OneFS_7.2.1.1_Simulator.zip?source=OLS
As for upgrading your current Virtual it is absolutely possible, I am not currently aware of any negative side affects from doing this but you would just place the regular 7.2.1.1 file on your VM and do the upgrade just like it was a production cluster.
I stood up a single node using the referenced OneFS versions, dropped the install file through the default /ifs share on my VM and it upgraded very smoothly. It will yell at you a little on upgrade checks due to it still being a VM but see the output of work below along with 7.2.1.1 installation file link.

I've had to always edit /boot/loader.conf after doing VM upgrades, specifically to comment out this line so that I still see boot messages during VM startup:
console="comconsole"
I just put a # at the beginning of that line, save the file, and then it takes effect on the next boot. Otherwise, I've never had any problems with upgrades of VMs (other than that they're usually pretty slow).

Just some additional tips:
- Backup/snapshot/clone your Isilon simulator VMs when powered down, prior to the code upgrade. This will give you the chance to roll back the upgrade, or to experiment with different procedures, configs, whatever. Can't beat that level of freedom with physical nodes!
- We have boosted the performance of our Isilon simulators by DISabling write caching for all virtual disks. (VMware workstation, datastores on NFS mounted to the Linux host from elsewhere [physical Isilon X200 fwiw]).
Cheers

Is there anyway I can get hdfs license key for Isilon?
I know I can email but is there any quicker way to do that?
I need a license key which does not expire..

I do have another question.. Once Isilon 3 node cluster is setup, how do I provide communicate with it from PHD perspective..
Since we don't have smartconnect configured, what FQDN we can use in Ambari for Namenode?
