Turn on a Dell G15 laptop without using the power button!
Dell G15 5530
Guys, I received my laptop yesterday (DELL G15 5530 – 32GB RAM – i7-13650HX), but I'm having an issue. I always use my laptop closed, connected to a 29" monitor.
Since 2020, I had an Acer Nitro 5, and I configured it so that I could power it on by pressing any key on the external keyboard or moving the mouse. So whenever I shut it down or put it into hibernation, I’d just do that and it would turn on.
Now with this Dell G15, I’ve been trying for over two hours and I just can’t get it to work. How do I set this up?
It’s not practical to have to unplug all the connected cables every time (since the space is tight), remove it from the stand (also a tight fit), open the screen, press the power button, then put everything back and reconnect all the cables… way too much work!
I already checked the BIOS and didn’t find anything. I even made a video showing everything here: https://youtu.be/-bA4vO6hOyI
What should I do? I’d really appreciate any help!

laptops are not designed like a desktop for constant use of external panels, for that use its best to get a tower and use that

@HedgeFundManager I have 8 laptops in my company - Acer, Lenovo, Samsung, and this Dell—and the only one that doesn’t allow this is the DELL. So it’s not that *laptops* aren’t made for this, it’s that *Dell laptops* aren’t made for this, because all the others handle this function perfectly!

I have some pint size machines which can use a monitor and keyboard. My Dell 3050 is an example as this machine is parked under a monitor and I use it mostly for email etc
