Touchpad random sticking issues

Inspiron 16 7620 2 in 1.  OLED 16' I7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, NVidia graphics 2GB. Excellent laptop just over 2 years old. Only issue I have is the touchpad regularly sticks and a reboot fixes it for awhile. Have run diagnostics to check fan and heat and neither are an issue. Tried using IPA on it and hands to eliminate grease as an issue but that doesn't seem to help.

Pretty sure it's not a faulty touchpad. Is this a known issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Well You can try the following to fix the issue with your touchpad:

  • Check for driver issues
  • Disable Palm Check / Touchpad sensitivity
  • Turn off “Enhance Pointer Precision”
  • Check for Windows updates

Remove the base cover.  Is the battery intact or does it show signs of swelling?  If it's at all swollen, remove and dispose of it immediately and order a replacement.  The system will function on AC power without a battery until you can source a replacement.

@GauravSyst

thanks for the suggestions. Tried them all. No help unfortunately. If I clean the pad and my fingers with isopropyl alcohol it helps for awhile but then starts to stick and also the pressure corners don’t work either. It seems the touchpad is an issue. Out of warranty but was ok at first. Everything is up to date. No newer drivers etc. it’s a real pain.
