Title: Dell G15 5511 – Not turning on, no charging indicator light

Hello,

I am experiencing a power issue with my Dell G15 5511 and hoping someone can help.

**The problem:**
- Laptop will not turn on
- When I plug in the charger, the charging indicator light on the left side does not light up
- The charger itself is working fine (the LED on the adapter is on)

**What I have already tried:**
- Held the power button for 30+ seconds
- Reseated the RAM modules

**My question:**
Is this a known issue with the G15 5511? Could it be the charging port, motherboard, or something else? Has anyone resolved this without replacing the motherboard?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is not a known issue. If the unit has no power, then you'd want to refer to the standard no power troubleshooting practices seen here. Here are the things to verify from that article:

  1. Attempt a hard reset (important part is to disconnect the battery if you didn't already)
    1. Disconnect any external devices including the AC adapter and disconnect the battery cable if able.
    2. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds
    3. Reseat the battery cable if disconnected
    4. Plug only the AC adapter back into the laptop
    5. Attempt to power on the system
  2. If no change, attempt the Motherboard Self Test:
    1. Leave the AC adapter plugged into the system
    2. Hold down the M key on the keyboard and press the power button at the same time.
    3. Look at the battery LED for the result of the diagnostic.
    4. A solid amber light indicates a failure.
    5. We may also get colors flash on the screen or nothing at all
  3. If no change or life, please attempt the Power button bypass:
    1. Disconnect AC Power from the system
    2. Hold down the ESC and CTRL key on the keyboard
    3. Plug in the AC Adapter to the system while still holding the ESC and CTRL key on the keyboard
    4. Release the ESC and CTRL key on the keyboard
    5. If the system powers on it is likely the power button causing the failure.
  4. Disconnect the battery if able and see if the unit powers on from the charger alone.
  5. If still unresolved, and if able, remove the RAM and SSD to see if they are causing a short. The unit should get a 2 amber, 3 white light code error for no memory
    1. If the 2,3 code is present, reinstall the parts one at a time to see if they are causing a short

Should the unit still have no signs of life, then the motherboard would likely need to be replaced.
