This computer has been Disabled using Intel Anti-Theft technology due to : Platform Attack Detected

Heya,

Recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 17 7737 used from eBay, The laptop came as "Untested, Purchased as a Job lot"

It did not have any ram installed so i added a 8GB Module, And all is fine switches on.

However, it seems to be locked!

"This computer has been Disabled using Intel Anti-Theft technology due to : Platform Attack Detected."

and gives me these options..

1 Passphrase

2 Server Recovery Token

Obviously i do not have these, I contacted the seller who said he does not know any codes as he purchased the laptop in a Job lot bundle ALL with missing ram and hard drives...i assume from a Business or something.

How do i unlock the laptop so i can use it?

kind regards

Nev

You cannot.  And the conditions of that purchase likely mean it's a paperweight at this point.

Unfortunately, the cost of a replacement mainboard is at or over the value of the system, so hopefully you have somewhere you can use the other parts of the system (screen, chassis, keyboard, etc.).

I'd recommend taking a look at these two PDFs from Intel.

Intel® Anti-Theft Technology

Product Brief

It seems that this is a CPU level lock that will prevent the unit from booting. It looks like your only alternative to bypass this is to replace the motherboard as its not tied to the hard drive. It may be best to try and return the laptop to the reseller since its practically a paper clip at this point if you do not have a means to clear the device.
