Swap SSD from old all in one to a new one

I broke the screen on my 4-year-old 27 All-In-One. The new one has a smaller SSD. and slower processer. I would like to swap the SSD from old all in one to the new one. Is this possible without major issues? I could replace the screen however the replacement will take 20 days to arrive. Thank you.

Since newer systems support the m.2 NVMe interface only, the SSD from the old computer needs to be NVMe as well. If the SSD from the old system uses the SATA interface in either forum factor, it may not be compatible. Please list the model numbers of both systems so that people here can provide you with the correct information.

Also, simply swapping the SSD with your existing install of Windows will not work, as it will break the activation status among other things like drive encryption, if enabled. You will need to perform a clean install of Windows on the SSD after the swap. Before you begin, make sure that you back up any important files on both systems, as performing a clean install of Windows will wipe all existing data. Use the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Tool to download the recovery image for your new system onto a USB flash drive that can be used to reinstall Windows. Boot from the USB recovery drive and use the reset option and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows. Alternatively, you can use the Windows Media Creation Tool to create a USB flash drive to reinstall Windows, which will not include the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery utilities or OEM drivers and applications.
