Setup Windows 7 on Inspiron 3552

Inspiron 3552

Inspiron 3552

Hi,

My HDD stopped working so I changed it to a SDD one.

Windows 7 asks me for a driver to install (AHCI) for its installation. I couldn't find a suitable driver. Where to find the "Intel Rapid Storage" driver for this type of laptop?

Thanks,

Windows 7 should not be used online at this point, as it has seen no security updates in over four years -- it's a sitting duck for a cyberattack and for malware.

Windows 10 is the oldest version of Windows for which current security updates are available.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer but this laptop is very slow with win10. It worked well with Win7.

This why I absolutely need to install seven no ten.

@kabeda By upgrading to a SSD, Windows 10 should run much faster and more efficiently on your computer. Boot time for example... On my Inspiron 3583, it took almost 2 minutes to boot to the Windows 10 desktop. Once I upgraded to a SSD, the boot time decreased to an amazing 17 seconds! Also, SSDs are much more efficient at performing multiple read/write tasks, so programs and services running in the background should not be as slow as they once were with the hard drive, assuming that you have enough RAM installed.

That brings up another problem... The hardware configuration of this model. The maximum amount of RAM that this model will accept is 4 GB, the minimum required to run Windows 10. It will still run smoothly, but I wouldn't run multiple programs at once, especially if they are demanding and consume a lot of memory. I have a desktop that has an SSD installed, and is also limited to 4 GB of RAM. Although it does come close to being completely full, the computer still runs great for what I use it for. It too, boots up in about 17 seconds. Not bad for being 13 years old at this point.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

In fact, the laptop boots up in few seconds, that true. But 3552 is Celeron and all the time the cpu process are on 100% with win10. This is why I want to install seven on it.
