Using the service manual, locate the procedure for removing the system board (you don't need to remove it, but it shows where the connector to the hard drive goes).

If the latch is still attached, simply reconnect the cable and secure it with the latch.

If the latch is broken or missing, that's another issue entirely.  It's not going to be available as a a separate part.

If you do not need the  drive (i.e., can run the system from the M.2 drive), it'll be simpler to just remove the drive.

If you do need the drive, the only sure path forward is to replace the system board.  The alternative is to locate someone selling an otherwise dead mainboard that has the latch and harvest the part from it.

Hopefully it will just be a loose cable and the latch will be intact.  If you accidentally tugged on the latched cable though -- it may be the latch is  broken or missing.

Look for a matching connector for the blue end marked HDD or  SATA on the mainboard.

If you need more detail, post the system model number (Inspiron  N5110, 3500, etc.).

The part number appears to belong to an Inspiron 7586 -- if so, documentation here.

@ejn63 It is for Dell Inspiron 15 (7586) model. Do I need to buy new connector or just it got disconnected? Also , are there any videos or instructions how and where to connect this part?

@snagit Hi, did you ever find a real solution to this? I'm having an issue with an interposer/cable and I can't get it to latch properly. It's for a hard drive I physically installed myself, and it came with the interposer but it won't stay under the plastic latch. I'm worried it came to me broken. When I opened the computer, I also discovered an empty screw hole over the hard drive, which was odd. I have an old Inspiron 15 5591 2n1 and I'm trying to add a second hard drive to it. Thanks for your time.
