Remote user on laptop?
Hello all
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this issue. I've noticed lately that my laptop is acting independently, almost like it's being used by someone else. For example, it will be switched on and then turn itself off and vice versa.
Matters came to a head last Friday. I signed into my computer and when I clicked on the mouse and started to open my Brave browser the mouse started moving of its own accord. I was physically struggling to use the mouse as it was literally being pulled away from me and visiting websites like the Formula 1 website ( I have never visited Formula 1 in my life).
Can someone help me with this? My first thought was that my laptop was being remotely used by someone else but when I checked the specifications it says
"remote access is not supported by your version of windows."
I then thought it might be a virus but I've ran several tests using the Windows firewall and all of them say that there is no viruses on the laptop.
What could be causing this? If its not a virus and its not a remote viewer what could it be? Can anyone please advise? I'd be grateful for anyone's help with resolving this.
Many thanks

Shut off wifi and disconnect any wired Ethernet cable. Does the problem disappear?

With the system disconnected from the Internet, back up your data and boot the system either from a Windows install flash drive or Dell recovery media and do a complete system wipe and restore.

@ejn63 Ok I'm trying to back up my computer files now ... unfortunately I don't have a hard drive which I understand is one of the only ways to back up offline ? Do you happen to know if there are any other ways to back up the computer offline? If not I'll just get a hard drive. Many thanks

It depends on the volume of the data -- a flash drive will work if you have one large enough.
