Palm Rest Discoloration on Inspiron 3530

Hello Dell Community,

I’m facing an issue with my Dell Inspiron 15 (3530), purchased on 16th March 2025, and I’d like to share my experience in hopes of finding a resolution or helping others who may be in a similar situation.

After just 4 months of regular, careful use, the palm rest area on the keyboard deck has already started fading and discoloring. I have not used any chemicals, excessive pressure, or anything beyond normal typing and palm resting.

When I contacted Dell support through WhatsApp and phone, I was told this is considered “normal wear and tear” and not covered under warranty. However, I respectfully disagree.

To support my concern, I’ve compiled a PDF containing multiple user complaints from Dell Forums and Reddit where customers across Inspiron, XPS, and Precision models have reported early palm rest discoloration, peeling, and surface wear — many within 2–4 months of use, just like me.

📎 I have attached:

  • A photo of the discoloration

  • The PDF report showing global user complaints on this issue

➤ What I’m Asking:

I’m not demanding warranty coverage — I’m requesting that Dell review this under a one-time goodwill policy, as this seems to be a product material/coating flaw that affects many users early in the product’s life.

If this issue is systemic, it should be acknowledged and addressed — not treated as individual cosmetic misuse.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to Dell’s response and hope this can be resolved fairly.

Best regards,
Vedant Shah
