obviously i should be an employee if i'm fixing my own computer

I had a hard drive issue. Ordered an on-site technician, who didn't bother to show up the day they were supposed to. They came the next day, put in my hard drive and informed me it was my job to download my own operating system. What exactly am I paying for here if half the labour I have to do myself?
