If the scroll wheel on your Dell MS116 mouse is not working, try these steps: check for obstructions or debris, test the mouse on a different computer, ensure the mouse is properly connected, update or reinstall mouse drivers, and adjust mouse settings. If the problem persists, consider replacing the mouse.

Click here for resolving mouse issues.

If the mouse needs to be replaced you will need to contact Amazon for replacement if you never switched the warranty from Amazon to Dell.

If needed click here to register and switch the warranty to Dell from Amazon.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

Hello @Saravanan Shanmugam .... This Is Ravi Teja Im Here to Help You

It's frustrating when your mouse scroll wheel stops working! Since you bought your Dell MS116 mouse on November 24, 2024, it is definitely still under warranty. Dell MS116 mice typically come with a 3-year warranty in India.

Here's what you should do:

1. Basic Troubleshooting (Quick Fixes):

  • Check for obstructions: Sometimes, dust, hair, or other debris can get stuck around or under the scroll wheel, preventing it from moving freely. Try to clean it with a can of compressed air or a damp cotton swab (damp with isopropyl alcohol, not wet).
  • Reseat the USB cable: Unplug the mouse from your computer and plug it back into a different USB port. This can sometimes resolve connection issues.
  • Test on another computer: If possible, try connecting your Dell MS116 mouse to another computer. This will help determine if the problem is with the mouse itself or with your computer's settings/drivers.
  • Restart your computer: A simple reboot can often resolve minor software glitches that might be affecting your mouse.
  • Update/Reinstall mouse drivers: While the MS116 is a plug-and-play mouse, sometimes driver issues can occur. You can try updating or reinstalling your mouse drivers through your computer's Device Manager.

2. Contact Dell Support for Warranty Claim:

Since your mouse is under warranty, the most effective solution will likely be to contact Dell support for a replacement. Here's how to do it in India:

  • Gather your purchase information: You'll need the invoice or order number from where you purchased the mouse (e.g., Amazon, Dell's website, or a local retailer). This is crucial for Dell to verify your warranty.
  • Visit the Dell Support website: Go to the official Dell India support website ( www.dell.com/support/home/en-in ).
  • Initiate a chat or call: Look for the "Get Help Now" icon (usually a chat widget) or find the contact numbers for technical support.
  • Explain the issue: Clearly state that your Dell MS116 scroll wheel is not working and that the mouse is still under warranty (mention the purchase date).
  • Provide purchase proof: You will likely be asked to provide your order number or a copy of your invoice to validate the warranty.
  • Follow their instructions: Dell support will guide you through the process, which may involve further troubleshooting or arranging a replacement.

Important Notes:

  • The Dell MS116 mouse generally does not have a "Service Tag" like Dell computers do, so the invoice or order number is the primary proof of purchase for warranty claims.
  • Many users have reported similar scroll wheel issues with the Dell MS116 after some use, and Dell typically offers replacements under warranty.

Good luck getting your mouse fixed!
