My Dell G7 laptop is 5 years old...
I spent a load of money for this machine...and here we are ... out aftera mere five years... Dell , you should be ashamed of yourselves. Greedy greedy greedy... and your 'warranties' are a joke. I blue screen at least once a day...and your stupid little hardware diagnostic tools cant detect anything wrong.....Dell!? SO because you clearly dont give support out-of-warranty customers; I gotta spend another 1200+ bucks to get the same machine and go through this nonsense again? I dont think so... I will be scouting other brands...

The situation will be the same with any other brand of consumer-grade notebook -- they're designed to last a couple-three years and then be replaced.
If you don't want to be in the same situation in the future, buy a higher grade of system -- Latitude, Thinkpad, Probook etc -- or a Macbook.

@ejn63 Yeah...no... I have an HP laptop 10 years old...Still works...and I paid half what I paid for the Dell. And BTW not every laptop is a notebook, including the Dell G7 series... No matter. It's no good excuse for a mfg.. to design their products this way. (This is why the Japanese beat us in the auto industry. Simply put they aren't greedy and they put their customers before themselves.)

Since you bring up autos, compare the cost of a 2015 model with that of a 2025 car of the same make and manufacturer. Of course the 2015 model cost a lot less -- and in fact as is with the case of a notebook, was also likely better made in terms of reliability and durability.
