Laptop is too hot to sit on my lap - Inspiron 16

Haven't had this computer for 24 hours yet, but it's hot - too hot to keep on my lap.  It sounds like the fan is running but it's still real hot.  Can this be resolved?

It's not designed to sit on your lap -- use it only on a hard, flat surface.

You're blocking the airflow by using it in your lap.  Despite the old name for a notebook computer, no modern notebook is designed for lap use unless it's a low-powered, fanless system.

Hi

Consider rejecting the device without accepting any repair AT ALL.  That includes telephone support, or you attempting any kind of intervention.

If it is excessively hot then it is likely to damage itself internally, so you will be doing DELL and yourself a good turn by having a replacement IMHO.
