Iris Xe Grahics card

My new Dell Inspiron 15 3520 has this Iris Graphics driver:

31.0.101.5333  Date: 2/21/2024

But, Intel has this graphics driver on their website:

32.0.101.6299  Date: 11/19/2024

@dell cares gives me the company line that Dell suggests to use their update which says I have the latest.

Shall I go ahead and install the Intel's latest driver?

Thanks.

Hi sankarmukh :

There are also multiple reports in this forum from users who experienced a variety of issues after installing a newer "generic" graphics driver from the manufacturer (e.g., Intel, AMD, NVIDIA,etc.) that was not certified by Dell for their computer model.  For example, see fabioluzo's 01-May-2024 Vostro 3520 Keeps Crashing, who solved their BSODs by reinstalling the Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers recommended on the support page for their Vostro 3520.

I am currently using the certified graphics driver for my Intel UHD Graphics 620 chip that is recommended on my Inspiron 5584 support page. When I run the Intel Driver & Support Assistant it finds a newer "generic" v31.0.101.2130 driver (rel. 03-Sep-2024) but also displays the following warning:

-----------
Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * Intel i5-8265U CPU * Intel UHD Graphics 620 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.5247 * Firefox v133.0.3 * Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.4.0 * My Dell v2.2.6.0 * Fusion Service 2.2.14.0 * Intel Driver & Support Assistant 24.6.49.8

If your display is working well, there is no need to get the latest driver from Intel.

I am not sure the display is working. For example, when I am watching a YouTube video, the screen arbitrarily zooms out and back in quickly with sound dropped. It happens with other apps too.

It doesn't happen on the external monitor when duplicating on the other screen.

Thanks.

Should have disclose that, but it's ok.  To fix issue, you can try to update with Intel driver.  If driver does not fix or resolve, the issue could be caused by multi-display setup with different resolution and scaling settings.  Disconnect any external connection from your laptop and test (play the same YT) with internal display only.

Note that Intel drivers are for basic integrated video functioning only.  Manufacturers (Dell) provide customized drivers to match hardware build (power and wirings), to meet software requirements (certified drivers), and to address security vulnerabilities.

Hi,

I didn't install the Intel Graphics driver yet.

I have a HDD connected to one USB 3.2 and the other USB 3.2 port is connected via an adapter to the internet Ethernet gateway. USB 2.0 port is connected to a mouse.

Whether I disconnect them or not, the problem remains.

For the HDMI port, I have a HDMI cable connected to Samsung TV. When I watch something on the external TV, the problem does not appear. However, when I am on the laptop with the external TV turned off, the zooming out of the screen appears. If I disconnect the HDMI cable, the problem goes away.

Maybe I will install the Intel Xe graphics driver to see that it gets fixed.

Thanks a lot.
