Inspiron 7630: Major failure right after support expiry (RTX 4060 stuck at 100%)”

Hello everyone,

I am very frustrated with my Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 (RTX 4060). The system worked fine during the support period, but on the very first day after free support expired it completely failed.

The laptop suddenly went into an endless recovery loop.

Windows could not boot, only constant attempts to repair.

Standard Recovery options did not help.

The only way to make it work again was a full clean reinstall of Windows 11.

However, since that reinstall the laptop has never been the same:

Applications that worked perfectly before (Exocad, Runyes, Blender) now lag heavily.

NVIDIA RTX 4060 shows 100% usage even in light tasks.

Cooling fans spin only weakly, the system throttles and performance drops.

All Intel/NVIDIA/Dell drivers have been reinstalled (with DDU cleanup), BIOS is updated to 1.24.1.

Problem persists.

This timing — system failure exactly the day free support ended — is too exact to be a coincidence. It strongly suggests a Dell firmware/driver/thermal management defect, not user error.

I believe Dell should treat this as a quality issue and provide a solution without charging me.

Has anyone else with an Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 experienced similar behavior right after reinstalling W

indows?

Thank you in advance.

Hi

Was/Is this a viable option...

  • On another PC, download and install Dell OS Recovery Tool from the official Dell Support website.

  • Enter your laptop’s Service Tag to get the exact recovery image.

  • Use the tool to create a bootable USB stick.

  • Insert the USB into your Inspiron 16 7630 Plus and boot from it (Press F12 at startup > select USB).

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall Windows, including Dell device drivers preloaded in the image.

Windows installed as you wrote. The problem is in the video card lags.

How clean is the system inside?  Has it been dusted internally (and if it's more than a year old, had the thermal pads replaced)?
