Inspiron 5515, refurbished, lid doesn't align correctly

Hello I got a refurb Dell 5515. I had the screen replaced because there was a lot of bleed on the first screen. There's bleed on the second screen too but not as bad and I will say support has been very good. That being said yesterday I noticed that the lid doesn't align correctly. It's off by a 16th of an inch.  The left side hangs over the width of the aluminum part of the case. The right side does not hang over at all. When opened you can tell that the right side is a 16th further away from the base than the left side. It gives a weird slightly offlook. It probably isn't noticeable to most people but I have ocd. I've been trying to explain it to the tech but I can't get a picture that they feel shows the issue. Does anyone else have this issue and is anyone know if it's fixable or is this just something one has to live with?

You can update the bios as well as removing and reinstalling the video card drivers into the system to see if that will resolve this issue.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Zarich

I would check all hinge screws???

Looks like one of the hinges has shifted.

Best regards,

I have no idea how a BIOS or Graphics driver update has anything to do with a misalined lid???

Did you even read the post???

There is definitely a misalignment with the hinges internally.  The right hinge is further out from the body of the laptop then the left, but I am not sure that is fixable because I am pretty sure they screws internally have little play.  I could check, but the repair service is just going to fix it.  Though their fix seems to be replace the body and the screen in totality.  There is also this weird issue where the lower part of the laptop screen makes a clicking noise when you touch it.  It doesn't happen if the screen is pushed all the way back.  The thing is it doesn't happen all the time.  But when it does even the lightest touch of the screen makes a click noise.

Hi, I am following up on the case.

May I know if you were able to ship the system to our depot for service?
