Inspiron 5502, a cautionary tale of wasted money and broken dreams
<Soliciting other users to act is a violation. Other violations removed. Read the Forum Code of Conduct. DELL-Admin>
This laptop is one of the biggest tech disappointments I’ve ever experienced, and that includes Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 6, and the existence of Clippy.
Performance? More Like Pain
Despite having an i7-11th Gen and 16GB RAM on paper, this machine runs like it’s processing instructions one bit at a time with a drunk hamster on a broken wheel. I’ve had random shutdowns, endless freezes, and battery life so pathetic, I’m convinced Dell just put a couple of AA batteries inside and called it a day. Two hours of juice, and it’s done. Try working unplugged and you’ll age faster than the battery depletes.
Thermals? Might As Well Be a Toaster
This thing heats up fast. Thermal throttling is guaranteed, the fan whines like a dying spaceship, and the chassis gets so hot, you could grill a cheese sandwich on it. No proper airflow, no efficient cooling. Dell crammed modern components into a chassis built for Windows XP and hoped for the best.
Support?
This is where it gets even worse. I had issues with DALL·E’s software (which already trashes you with its performance demands), and tried to get help. But since my subscription had expired, Dell’s “support” team decided to ignore me completely. You heard that You’re out of warranty? Then get lost."
Design? Sleek Garbage
Sure, it looks nice. The chassis flexes, the keyboard is mushy, the touchpad is inconsistent, and the screen brightness is a joke outdoors. Don’t be fooled by the aluminum trim.
Summary
There is nothing redeeming about this laptop. It’s unreliable, hot, slow, and unsupported. Dell charged a premium for mediocrity, and now I’m here, trying to make sure no one else makes the same mistake. This is not a productivity tool. This is a stress generator. A performance bottleneck in the shape of a rectangle. A betrayal in brushed metal.
Final Verdict: 1/10
(And that 1 is for the fact it turns on… sometimes.)

Looks like a fresh install of Windows 11 should help resolve stability

@HedgeFundManager
I’ve officially given this Dell Inspiron 5502 every last chance to redeem itself. Here's what’s been done:
Result? Same slow, freezing, temperamental trash as always.
At this point, I’m not wasting another second reinstalling Windows on a machine that clearly isn’t worth the effort.
I’m done. I’m switching to a ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
