Inspiron 5481 - Windows 11 - Black Screen
Inspiron 5481 2-in-1
My Inspiron 5481 is having issues getting Windows 11 to work properly.
What is happening is that when the laptop boots up, it gives me a black screen that shows the time and date, and mentions information about the picture (that does not show). If I do a control-alt-delete, the entire screen goes black.
I've tried Upgrading from Windows 10 and installing a fresh copy of Windows 11, and both give me the same issue.
The odd thing is that if I let the laptop sit for about an hour, it will eventually give me the logon prompt. I'm able to log in Windows 11 OK and everything works great after that. However, if I "Sign-Out" of Windows 11, it goes back to the same issue.
I'm on the latest Windows 11 updates, and I've ran the Dell driver installer and it's telling me I have all the latest drivers. (to include the latest BIOS). I've tried resetting the BIOS settings to default values as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

Once you are able to finally log in, disable the Intel Integrated Sensor Hub in your device manager.
This work-around will allow you to boot normally (at the cost of automatic screen rotation) until Dell finally gets around to putting out an updated driver (which they need to do, since there is a security vulnerability in any driver before Mar 2023).
Hey Dell, how about you all get on that, huh? I and a ton of other folks have reported this issue for over a year now.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a black screen issue with your Dell Inspiron. A black screen can be caused by various factors, and I'll try to guide you through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:
1. Power cycle the laptop: Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if it's removable), and hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds. Then reconnect the battery (if applicable) and power adapter, and try turning on the laptop again.
2. Check the display brightness: It's possible that the brightness settings are set too low, causing the screen to appear black. Press the appropriate function key (usually Fn) along with the brightness key (usually indicated by a sun symbol) to increase the brightness.
3. Connect an external display: If you have access to an external monitor or TV, try connecting your laptop to it using an HDMI or VGA cable. If the external display works, it could indicate a problem with the laptop's LCD screen or its connections.
4. Check for BIOS/UEFI updates: Visit Dell's support website and search for your specific Inspiron model. Look for any available BIOS or UEFI updates and follow the instructions provided to update the system firmware. Sometimes, a black screen issue can be resolved through a firmware update.
5. Perform a hard reset: Shut down the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and remove the battery (if possible). Then, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any remaining power. Reconnect the battery (if applicable) and power adapter, and try turning on the laptop.
6. Seek professional assistance: If none of the above steps resolve the black screen issue, it's possible that there might be a hardware problem with the laptop. In such cases, I recommend contacting Dell's customer support or taking your laptop to a certified technician for further diagnosis and repair.
Remember to back up your important data regularly to avoid any potential data loss during troubleshooting or repair processes.

Wow! You have no idea how many hours I spent on this issue. Thank you so much for the solution. The laptop boots up quickly now after disabling the device.
For those that need to know, the device is under the "System Devices" category.
