Inspiron 5310 hangs at Dell logo
My 3 year old PC running Windows 11 Home will not boot past the Dell logo. It crashes/reboots when I try to run the SupportAssist Recovery. I can tell from the BIOS log that it received a firmware update from Microsoft on Feb 12th. The BIOS version was 2.37.0. It also initially did not show the SSD drive under the BIOS storage tab. I checked Dell's site and for my service tag BIOS 2.33.0 was the current BIOS so I flashed it back to it. I rebooted and still no success although the BIOS now says 2.33.0 and the hard drive shows. I ran all of the BIOS advanced hardware diagnostics and all passed. I created a boot thumb drive using Windows Media Creation tool and specified it as the boot device. The light on the thumb drive initially shows it is being accessed during boot but then stops and I am stuck at the Dell logo. I verified the thumb drive was valid by booting to it on another PC. Any help much appreciated.

Hi everyone,
If you are using an Inspiron 5310, please make sure your system is updated to the latest BIOS version, 2.40.0.
Once you have updated, feel free to share how things are working for you and whether it made a difference with the issue discussed in this thread.

Unplug the system, remove the base cover and disconnect the battery from the system board. Hold the power button for 30 sec. Then reassemble and see if the system will then complete POST and boot.

There appears to be a problem with this BIOS. Do some searching and you'll see that many people are having this issue with this BIOS. I'm about to post a new discussion about it. But here's a lot of information already:

@BDHodge Thanks. I saw those but no success yet. I have tried downgrading to 2.32.0 and 2.30.0. I did not receive any errors but now it shows 2.37.0. It isn't letting me even flash back to 2.33.0. I will continue to monitor the other thread.

A case has to be created with Support.
Click the blue GHN (Get Help Now) on the right to start a private live chat session. The GHN AI should not stop you from chatting with an agent. GHN agents should not turn you away if out of warranty. Share with them the private Service Tag, issues, this thread link, and all of your troubleshooting. This will in turn generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag.
Mention to the Dell Technical Support agent that they should read SFDC article =
