Inspiron 3501, storage upgrade without reinstalling the OS
<Moved thread out of XPS Desktops and into Inspiron Laptops. DELL-Admin>
Model = Dell Inspiron 3501
Storage = NVMe CL1-3D512-Q11 NVMe SSSTC 512GB
I want to replace the storage for the above system with 1TB without reinstalling the OS. What storage device should I use? Can I simply backup me old storage (disk image) and restore it to the new 1TB storage?

Hi
The primary drive of your Inspiron 15 3501 varies with the storage configuration. For computers:
I am assuming you are going to replace the above with a 1 TB version.
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/inspiron-15-3501-laptop/inspiron-3501-service-manual/major-components-of-inspiron-3501?guid=guid-98b2dcc6-a5fb-4030-8558-948c8952908d&lang=en-us
AND the current storage is a 2230
(This M.2 2230 uses PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe interface and 3D TLC NAND flash, with up to 512MB DRAM cache).
You could make backups, even clone the current storage onto a 512 GB USB stick.
You could use a caddy and mount the current internal as external, and copy/clone it across.
If in doubt please ask.
