Inspiron 24 5475 AIO power button LED flashes 5x amber

As the subject says:  aged Inspiron 24 5475 AIO, kept alive as a hobby machine, suddenly gave up the ghost.  Will not boot beyond the Orange Light of Death:  the amber light comes on normally on power-on, switches briefly to white, then comes back to flashing amber in a cycle of 5 flashes (pause); 5 flashes (pause); etc.  Other than being able to see that the fan is running, I can't tell if anything else at all is happening.

The service manual indicates OLOD x5 is a CMOS issue/diagnostic indicator.  I've done the full power reset & changed the battery (though the one that was installed tested good), no change at all.

Any other ideas about what's going on...?

Hi

Not really.

The internet has a bit better try than my feeble brain....

Remove each RAM module, check for dust/oxidation on contacts, then reinstall until the clips click.

If there are 2 sticks, test with only 1 installed at a time, in each slot, to rule out a bad module or slot.

Clear CMOS  --  Remove it for 5–10 minutes, press and hold the power button for 15–30 seconds (with mains disconnected), then refit or replace the coin cell with a fresh CR2032.

With the CMOS out the drain is necessary, you can try rebooting with no CMOS and no RAM to hopefully force a change in circumstances.

@anne_droid Thanks--done all of those, no dice....

I "think" I've isolated it to the I/O board.  Got a new one off of eBay for under $20 bucks, next time I have fool-around time on my hands I'll give it a whirl....
