Inspiron 16 plus 7630 Samsung 990 PRO NVME SSD problem.
I am trying to upgrade SSD in my Inspiron 16 plus 7630 to a Samsung 990 PRO NVME 2TB.
The BIOS sees the SSD but when I boot from a Windows 11 install USB the SSD isn’t seen.
If I boot from Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS from USB I can access the drive.
If I boot from an Aomei partition rescue USB the drive isn’t seen.
If I boot Macrium Reflect rescue (made while running on the old drive) I can access the new drive.
As a partial work around used Macrium to restore the Windows partition to the end of the drive.
Second, I started a command window and use Diskpart to create EFI and reserved partitions at the start of the drive.
Third, I use the Macrium boot repair.
This configuration works but I can’t rebuild the rescue partition.
Would a different brand or smaller SSD work correctly?

I figured out how to use Macrium to put the OS partition immediately after the EFI and Microsoft reserved partitions.
For Windows 11 setup you need the Intel Rapid Storage drivers.
I used the latest from Intel but the ones from dell support should also work.
You need to extract the files from the exe.
When you extract the Intel exe the correct files are in a sub directory VDM.
I copy these to a new subdirectory I created on the Windows install USB drive.
During setup you need to load these to access the Samsung SSD.
I am disappointed that the Windows installer can’t automatically load the correct Intel drivers.
After you load the drivers you can enter shift + Fn + F10 to get a command prompt.
