Inspiron 15z 5523 - Display upgrade from HD to full-HD possible?

Hi all,

Please someone knowledgeable here about laptop screen upgrades that could give me a final answer to this question. I am wondering if there is a laptop screen replacement + compatible full hd flex cable that I could put into my old dell Inspiron 15z 5523 laptop and it would work? I know these laptops never shipped with fullhd screens but sometimes this is not issue when upgrading. Would someone have a definite answer to this?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Mark

From two standpoints, the answer is, "almost certainly not".  The system will not have EDID coding for an FHD display, and neither will you find a compatible LVDS cable to connect an FHD screen to the system (this system is relatively ancient and most subsequent systems use eDP, not LVDS).

If you want FHD display, purchase an FHD external monitor.

Thanks a lot! This closes the case for me, I spent so much time on this already. External monitor it will be, until I upgrade my ancient laptop. :)) Thank you for answering this!
