Inspiron 15 3520 (2023) Power Button

Hi,

Does anyone know how the power button on a 2023 Inspiron 15 3520 works?

I’ve been having problems switching on and it’s been getting worse, until now it won’t switch on. (It’s not just the bit where you have to hold the button down longer when it’s on battery.)

Power is getting through from the charging port to the mainboard because the light next to the charge port comes on, but pressing the power button does nothing.

When you take the power button board out it looks like the one in the attached picture, the button just pushes on the square of some kind of mesh.

Obviously I don’t want to buy a new board then find that’s not the problem, so how do I test the board?  I just can’t see what pressure on the mesh is meant to do.
