Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 – Power Button Requires Hard Press to Boot
Device: Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440
Issue: Power button requires hard press to boot
Hello,
I’m currently facing an issue with my Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440. Whenever I try to power on the laptop, a soft press on the power button doesn’t work. I need to press it quite firmly or hold it down for a few seconds before it powers on.
The laptop is still under warranty (purchased November 2024), but this problem doesn’t get detected during Dell SupportAssist diagnostics.
I’ve already tried a full power drain (holding the button for 30+ seconds), and ensured BIOS and drivers are up to date. The issue still persists.
Has anyone else faced this with this model? Would appreciate help from the community or Dell support on how to proceed with a service request.
Thanks in advance,
Harsh Patil

Dirty, defective, or worn out power button. If it's still under warranty, request a repair.
