Inspirion AIO 5400 options for 3rd extended display USB to HDMI

Hello all!!

I've been trying to make this happen and doing some research over the last few weeks. Both here on the Dell site and over the web in general. I thought it might be best to just ask and see what others are using with this particular model in successfully adding a third extended display. The more I look, the more options I have in front of me, and having tried a couple of them already without success, I am curious to hear which cables/combos/converters/adapters have been proven to work with either USB A or USB C to HDMI on this model. Reviews and comments on products from various marketplaces are all over the place with what does & doesn't work for folks.

Details:

  • Model: Inspirion AIO 5400 purchased new in 2021 EOM
  • 2nd monitor (currently running on the one HDMI out port) Arzopa 15.6" FHD
  • 3rd monitor (not connected) Vizio HDTV with HDMI & VGA inputs
  • Intended use: Occasional for viewing office apps and documents on a 3rd screen while I do work on the other 2
  • Both monitors have been tested and function on the existing HDMI port. I have not been able to successfully make either work via USB C or USB A.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance. I'm just trying to avoid spending the next 3 months purchasing and returning items trying to find the one that actually works for this model.

USB A to video out will work only with a displaylink adapter -- that's what you'd need.

@ejn63 Thanks, that narrowed it down quite quickly!! Now running a 3rd monitor using a displaylink adapter/hub on the USB C port.  My quest is over!! :)
