How many pins on the screen to connect to the MB?

The screen needs to be replaced it is an Inspiron 15 3000 on the front. Without taking it apart how do I tell how many pins it would be. I have no idea if it is a touch screen? I am doing this for a friend of mine. After staring at the screen and asking the forum it was plain the screen was cracked and possibly it with something. Works fine on the HDMI. I can take it part easily enough. Though they are the least expensive of parts and I prefer not to do it until I Have the other one. My desk already has enough on it.  Thanks for any assistance. If it's a 3551, it's not a touchscreen -- only non touch were available.

The screen for that model:

Only you know what it needs -- your first post is that the screen is cracked;  if that's the case, you need the panel.  If it's just the bezel that's cracked:

You've also mentioned an Inspiron 3511, which is a newer model that uses different parts.

Carefully verify what you have before buying anything.

You can't simply buy a display panel by the pin count on the connector.  You can look up suitable replacement parts by service tag number at www.parts-people.com.

@ejn63 Thanks, just some of the problem is determining between touch screen and a regular screen. I have to assume also that a Inspirion 15 3000 would mean that it is a series 3000 whether it shows a 3551 or another part number?

A better questioin. All I need is the screen it is a 35ll. So I am assuming all I wouold needs is the bezel if I can find one a fair cost, rather than the whole screen/back? thanks

@ejn63

Thanks, sorry as eyes get older harder to see. I guess I have to get the magnifier out It is an Inspiron 15-3011

I have been pouring over video's, have a lot of 15-3000 which is of course different. I have tried taking the bezel off to get the screen out, yet because of the bottom (think the hinges), it appears you have to take the bottom screws out (also to remove the battery. The ones I have come across shows 4 screws, which there are not. In searching the videos for the Inspiron 15-3011 my eyes are not seeing double lol Hopefully will lead to the same conclusion, unscrew the bottom take the battery out, the Screen bezel should come out giving me the proper pin number and or part number. I do not believe it is touch so that would leave the 30 pins. I think it would be all apart if I had found a video or had just taken the bottom off. I figure it is always best to find out then break something else. If you happen to know where a video is for the 15-3011 or it sounds like I am correct, please let me know it is really appreciated even though not mine lol Bruce

Your right, double vision doesn't work well, 15-3511. I will double check youtube on getting apart right. The docs are pretty good on putting it together. Just have to work backwards. Thanks For your patience Bruce

@ejn63 I finally took it apart and it has a part number of NV156FHM-N3D. I guess contact the person and see what they would like to do. So many out there. Thanks.
