HA130PM160 charger compatible with 7640?
Looking at getting a 7640 and have this charger/power adapter. Looking at the barrel charger listed on the dell site as compatible I can't find the charger model listed - it just lists the power and barrel size. Mine looks the same as the picture but seems very strange they don't list a model number. Since the 7640 only has 1 USBC port I would like to use the barrel connector for charging.

It'll work fine - the system ships with 65 or 100 W adapters, so 130 will work just fine.

The system that was shipped with 65w or 100w USB-C adapter is 2-in-1 model and does not have barrel connector.
If you have Inspiron 16 Plus model, this barrel power adapter with part number TX73F is compatible with your 7640. Scroll down on product page for compatible models.

My 7640 arrived with a 100w USB-C charger, but I, too, would prefer to use the barrel charging port.
There are 90w and 65w chargers available. Apart from price, is there a practical difference between them?

If it came with a 100 W USB-C adapter, make sure the one you buy for the 4.5 mm connector is at least 100W -- not lower.
Here's one:

Thanks. @ejn63
How much higher than100w is safe to go? I see there are 280w + chargers on the Dell site. Do they just charge faster, or are they only for higher performance machines?

The system will draw only as much power as it needs -- 100 W is fine. Anything above that won't make any difference other than likely being heavier to carry around.
I don't see any 100 W 7.5 mm adapters as OEM so 130 W will do the job just fine.
