G7 7790, no power?
I was browsing online 2 weeks ago and my laptop made a quick buzzing noise and shut down. I have not been able to get it back on since. I bought 2 new AC power adapters and I replaced the actual part that the adapter plugs into on the laptop and still nothing. The adapters green light powers on when plugged into the wall but as soon as i plug it into the laptop the light goes off and after removing the back cover i got a real faint burnt smell. All the articles i see just pertain to running diagnostics or running some kind of scans but I cant.... there is zero power.
Ive had this laptop for 4 yrs, its never given me any issues but for the last month I noticed that while it was in sleep mode the keyboard would randomly flicker like when you move the mouse and it wakes up. Ive read that its the motherboard so should I replace the motherboard or just buy a new laptop?

There's a short in the notebook - it either needs a board level repair or a replacement mainboard. Parts-people.com does board level repairs and sells and replaces) boards.
Depending on the CPU and GPU the board has, the board alone can exceed $500.
There are boards for as little as $150 on EBay but they generally come with no (or a very short) warranty.
Only you can decided on repair vs replacement.

@ejn63
😩 I read about a person that replaced their board for 250 (board only no labor) only for it to happen again a year later and I'm hoping this is not "a thing" with these specific models or if it is, maybe upgrading certain components all together fix or at least prevent it from happening again.... it really is a good laptop and Ive always owned a Dell (Inspiron specifically) and have never had anything go wrong on any of them until now. Thank you for the response though, its very much appreciated.

The bottom line is that it's a 6-year old gaming system and any board you buy will be refurbished, and have at most a 1-year warranty. Gaming systems that are more than three years old are on borrowed time if they've been used even normally -- and many will have had much harder lives than "normal" use.
