G3 3579 Powers off
After boot my G3 shuts itself off. It was only doing it while in chrome, but now it does it with no apps open. Diagnostics shows no issue except the battery, but I have it plugged in. Does not shutdown in diagnostics mode.

If your Dell G3 3579 laptop is turning off unexpectedly, especially when unplugged or while running, it could be due to a few potential issues. These include a faulty power supply, a misbehaving battery, or software glitches.
Here's a breakdown of troubleshooting steps:
1. Check the Power Supply:
Test with a different power adapter:
.
If you have a spare charger, try using it. This will help determine if the power adapter itself is faulty.
Check the power adapter cable:
.
Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the power adapter. A loose or damaged cable can cause intermittent power issues.
2. Evaluate the Battery:
Check battery status:
.
Look for any blinking amber or white patterns on the battery charge indicator LED. This could indicate a problem with the battery or the charging circuitry.
Run a battery diagnostic:
.
Use the Dell SupportAssist app to run a battery diagnostic. This will test the battery's health and capacity.
Replace the battery:
.
If the battery diagnostic indicates a problem, or if the battery is old and worn out, consider replacing it.
3. Investigate Software Issues:
Update drivers and BIOS:
.
Ensure your drivers and BIOS are up to date. Use the Dell update utility to update these.
Check for power management settings:
.
Make sure your power plan settings are not configured to shut down the laptop prematurely.
Address software glitches:
.
If you suspect a software issue, try performing a hard reset by holding the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power, then restart.
