G15 5535, request for Sonix Camera driver (NPU Support), site only lists Realtek
Attention @DELL-Cares and @DELL-Chris M : Requesting assistance with a missing Sonix camera driver.
Hello, I am seeking assistance from a Dell Support Liaison or Forum Moderator regarding a driver mismatch for the G15 5535.
The Problem: My system is equipped with the Sonix/Microdia camera sensor (Hardware ID: USB\VID_0C45&PID_6D1A). However, the official G15 5535 Drivers page only hosts the Realtek camera firmware/drivers. I attempted to install the Realtek Firmware from the site, but it failed with "Error Code 10 / Target Not Found," confirming the hardware mismatch.
The Impact: Because the generic "Integrated Camera" driver is currently in use, Windows Studio Effects (NPU) cannot be enabled. I require the manufacturer-specific Sonix driver that includes the Device MFT (Media Foundation Transform) to bridge the camera to the Ryzen AI NPU.
Specific Request: Since the website is missing this specific hardware variant's driver, could a Dell representative provide the internal link to the Sonix Camera Driver package compatible with Windows 11 for this model?
System Info:
Model: G15 5535
CPU: Ryzen 5 7640HS
Camera ID: VID_0C45&PID_6D1A
Thank you for your help in resolving this site-side omission.

For direct Dell Technical Support, Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support must verify the ownership and warranty status. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private G15 5535 Service Tag with them and all of your troubleshooting. This will in turn generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag.
The G15 5535 Drivers & Downloads site shows two Realtek, but they are audio only.
* Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
* Realtek Audio Console Application
I see two Camera firmware, but they do not specify Realtek or Sonix/Microdia.
* Camera Firmware Update Utility
* LVI Camera Firmware Update Utility
When I do a Google search for "Dell Sonix Camera driver", I see three, but none are for Windows 11.
This XSP 13 Forum thread conclusion was a possible fault with the LCD cable =
It appears that the problem is a physical one. Depending on the angle of the screen the camera would work, "Integrated webcam" or not "Sonix technology Co ltd". So, it may be a physical problem like the cable or the connection.
Based on the other comments, I am starting to conclude the 'Sonix technology Co Ltd' webcam must have a chronic loose cabling issue.
Hi, the issue is indeed a physical one. The integrated webcam works after the dell XPS 13 laptop is tilted slightly more than needed.

@DELL-ChrisM2
Hi Chris, thank you for checking the files and the logs.
Regarding the XPS 13 loose cable thread: I can confirm my unit does not have a physical intermittent connection. The camera is completely stable and functions 100% of the time as a "USB Video Device" with the generic Microsoft driver (video is clear, no disconnects when moving the lid). The issue is strictly that the generic driver does not support the Windows Studio Effects/NPU pipeline.
Regarding the Camera Firmware on the download page: You are correct that the page lists "Camera Firmware Update Utility" without specifying a brand. However, when I run that specific utility, it immediately fails with Error Code 10 (Target Not Found).
This confirms that the utility on the website is hard-coded to look for a Realtek sensor.
My unit shipped with the Sonix sensor (Hardware ID:
USB\VID_0C45&PID_6D1A), which is why the installer rejects it.Since the hardware is stable and functional (just missing the NPU driver), could you please check if there is an internal link for the Sonix-specific driver for the G15 5535? It seems the Sonix batch of this model was not provided with a matching driver on the public support page.

It appears that not all G15 5535 have NPU support.
* Open the Task Manager
* Click Performance
* Do you see NPU?
* Open the Device Manager
* Expand System devices
* Open PCI Express Root Complex
* Do you see AMD IPU Device there or anywhere else?

Hi Chris,
Yes, confirmed. My system absolutely has the NPU hardware support.
1. Task Manager:
Yes, I see the NPU graph in the Performance tab.
2. Device Manager:
Under
PCI Express Root Complex, I see "NPU Compute Accelerator Device" (instead of "AMD IPU Device").Hardware Status: The device is working properly.
Note: The driver name "NPU Compute Accelerator Device" is the standard label for the Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" series on the latest AMD drivers.
3. Dell's Own Documentation: According to Dell KB Article 000223944 ( How to Identify AI-Enabled Windows Computers ), the Dell G15 5535 is explicitly listed as an AI-Enabled product.
Since Dell officially supports NPU features on this model, and my NPU hardware is active, the only missing component is the Sonix Camera Driver to bridge the video feed.
Could you please check the engineering backend for the Sonix-compatible driver package?

Hi @DELL-ChrisM2 , just following up on this. I’ve previously provided screenshots confirming that the NPU hardware is active and detected. Since my G15 5535 is confirmed as an AI-enabled model, could you please provide an update on obtaining the Sonix-specific driver package from the engineering team?
