G15 5530, suddenly freezes completely

I purchased a Dell 15 g5530  laptop with an i5 HX processor, 6 GB dedicated graphics, and 16 GB RAM.

Initially, the laptop was automatically restarting during Google Meet sessions. After checking, I found that the issue occurred when the system switched from Intel integrated graphics to the NVIDIA dedicated graphics. I disabled the Intel graphics and forced the system to use the dedicated GPU, after which everything worked fine.

However, after a few days, the issue returned. I checked the Event Logs, but nothing useful was found. Then the problem resolved on its own for some time.

Now, a new issue has started — while working, the laptop suddenly freezes completely and becomes unresponsive. I have already updated all drivers and performed all necessary tests, and everything shows normal, but the issue still persists.

At this point, I am very disappointed. In my experience, Dell laptops have been extremely unreliable. I spent ₹85,000 on this device, and I am not satisfied at all.

I don’t think I will purchase any Dell products again in the future.

You should not have to disable the on-board Intel GPU.  I suggest you Re-Enable that.

However, in Settings / System / Display / Graphics / Advanced Graphics / be sure HAGS is OFF.

Down below, if Windows doesn't seem to be selecting the proper GPU for games, you can force it to the Nvidia.

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion. I have already re-enabled the Intel integrated GPU as advised. I also made sure that HAGS is turned OFF in the graphics settings.

Additionally, I have manually set applications to use the NVIDIA dedicated GPU.

However, despite applying all these changes, the issue still persists. The system continues to freeze randomly even under normal usage.

Kindly advise on the next steps, as this has not resolved the problem.

Good, that should work better.

What errors (especially red/critical ones) show in Windows-11 Reliability History Report ?
