G15 5530, external monitor shutting off mid game, but computer stays on

I have a Dell G15 5530 and when I play certain games my monitor turns off and does not turn back on unless I do a hard reset, the computer stays running and I cannot hear audio cause my headset is connected to the monitor. This all started after I broke the screen on the computer, I got a monitor so I didn't have to replace the screen.
