I’m having persistent trouble getting the EC (Embedded Controller) firmware to update on my Dell G15 5525 laptop.
I've successfully updated the BIOS to version 1.23.0 using the F12 BIOS Flash Update tool. During the flash process, the EC firmware update progress bar reaches 100%, and the system restarts, but afterward:
msinfo32, HWiNFO, and BIOS Setup all still report EC Version: 0.16
No errors are shown during the update
I've attempted the update multiple times, using both front and rear USB ports, with Secure Boot and TPM disabled
I'm trying to force a clean EC update via BIOS Recovery (Ctrl + Esc method) using a .rcv file on a FAT32-formatted USB drive, but I cannot get the recovery environment to start — the laptop just boots into Windows.
Has anyone else encountered this issue on the G15 5525 or a similar Dell system? Is there a recommended method to force an EC firmware refresh or known steps to resolve this mismatch?
