Dell.CoreServices crashing frequently

Yesterday, I reported Dell.CoreServices.Client.exe APPCRASH for three days in a row. This also happened a few weeks ago for which a BIOS update was applied. Yesterday my BIOS was refreshed (with the same version).

My questions arising from this are (and not just because my premium support ends in June of next year):

1) Is this community available to those without paid-for/Premium support?

2) Is it better to wait for BIOS updates to come through Windows update rather than always installing them using supportassist ?

3) Are there any ongoing issues with Dell.CoreServices. Client and recent BIOS updates?

I ask these because the issue has not yet gone away and I may be happier waiting for a long-term fix if one is due.

1 - Windows does not do BIOS update.

2 - Since Dell.CoreServices.Client.exe started to crash with KERNELBASE.dll as per the Windows Application log, I can also say that Grammarly.Desktop.exe Windows app is crashing when trying to start, still KERNELBASE.dll error.

3- Running the  Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool and reboot will solve the problem, but just to have the app start "once" then back to same error.

Weird... Microsoft latest Update needs a fix.

I'm on Windows 11 Version 23H2 build 22631.4602

Hi all,

It seems this issue is related to the previous version of SupportAssist. Please install the latest version and let us know if you continue to experience this error.

If the issue persists, we recommend performing a clean installation by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs, and then Uninstall.
  2. Afterwards, restart your computer (do not skip this step, it is essential to resolve the issue)
  3. Reinstall Support Assist from this link > https://www.dell.com/pt-br/lp/dt/support-assist-for-pcs
  4. Click Launch and test the new version.

If you encounter issues reinstalling SupportAssist, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Microsoft Troubleshooter Tool, open the file, and click Next to run the tool.
  2. Click Next, select Uninstalling, choose Dell SupportAssist from the list of programs, and click Next to uninstall.
  3. If the uninstallation was successful, close the troubleshooter and restart the system (do not skip this step, it is essential to resolve the issue).

Ensure that the following five Windows services are removed from Windows Services when an uninstall is done and started when an upgrade or new install is performed.

If they were not removed, please refer to the video below for the complete step-by-step instructions:

If you still need assistance, please contact support by clicking the ‘Get Help Now’ button located at the bottom right corner of the page. The button is marked with a help icon for easy recognition as per the picture below:

    1.  Yes

    2.  It's more of a preference choice.  Some users prefer to update through SA, some will update through Windows, and some would prefer to update outside of operating system using USB method.

    3.  Some users do have issues with SA now and then but not with the issue you are reporting.  You can take a glance of users postings at SA board  https://www.dell.com/community/en/categories/supportassist-for-pcs

    @Chino de Oro

    1. Thx

    2. Understood. I think that updates posted via Windows Update will be equally if not more reliable. I can well believe that updates issued via SupportAssist can be a precursor to that.

    3. Thanks for the link, I have taken I look. I have no issue with SA as such, It has improved greatly over the years.

@Chino de Oro Although I have uninstalled SA. I still have DELL Update installed which still WORKS FINE!!!

I am still being served bios update 1.33 by WIndows update which I already have.

This morning I was offered bios update 1.34 by DELL Update which I gratefully accepted. Hopefully it was thoroughly tested and will appear on WU soon.

    Happy Christmas to all.

    @Mephisto999

I can verify this fixed the issue for me. I had already removed SupportAssist and reinstalled it. Something caused the update for SupportAssist to fail. Ugh.

Almost February and this is still happening.  Only way to get rid of it is to completely uninstall Support Assist and Command Center.

@DELL-Nat M My Windows 11 Pro (24H2) laptop won't remove the "Dell Client Management Service" entry. I used the Command Prompt method and it still won't remove the above entry. This I have tried several times and still no luck. Every time I shut down the pc the next time I start it and look in the reliability history the time and date of the last shut down has the error. My windows 10 desktop pc seems to have been fixed after the latest SA update. If there is a way to remove the Client Management entry please explain how and I will try the whole process once again.

Hello. I used Ccleaner Professional to disable dell support assist. In performance optimizer, I did the search and in the list I clicked on the name of the program and then on sleep. I turned my laptop off and on and it went back to normal. When a solution is found, I will activate it again.

@Welington da V. B. Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I may give it a try or just wait until Dell updates things to correct this issue. Like I said my Win 10 pc no longer has this problem and I never tried anything to correct it on that device.

My laptop reduced memory usage by 25% and access to the SSD and processing became faster. It was like the sonic of the metaverse.
