Dell Monitor Flicker
Inspiron 7580
New replacement Dell Monitor U2422H flickers to black on Dell Inspiron 15 -7580 just out of warranty. Tried my other Dell monitor thats OK on my very old HP laptop - same result - flickers to black. Two hours of Dell Tech concluded Inspiron HDMI board failure. Options? Thanks

Many thanks Adrian
I tried all of the above. Connecting monitor to my old second PC confirmed the issue is not the monitor. Dell Tech confirmed it is the HDMI board on the Mother Board. Not repairable.
My Inspiron 7580 has been a good machine and is only 4 years old. Extended warrantly expired in April!
I need the monitor due to vision issues. I'll give it to one of my children as everything else works fine.

If you're experiencing flickering issues with your Dell monitor, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Check the connections: Ensure that the cables connecting your monitor to the computer are securely plugged in. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the cables to ensure a proper connection.
2. Test with a different cable: Sometimes, a faulty or damaged cable can cause flickering. If possible, try using a different video cable (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI) to connect your monitor to the computer and see if the flickering issue persists.
3. Adjust the refresh rate: Right-click on your desktop and select "Display settings" (or "Screen resolution"). In the display settings, locate the "Advanced display settings" or "Display adapter properties" option. In the properties window, navigate to the "Monitor" tab and check if the refresh rate is set to the recommended value (usually 60Hz). If not, change it to the recommended refresh rate and see if the flickering stops.
4. Update graphics drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause display issues, including flickering. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest drivers for your specific graphics card model. Install the updated drivers and restart your computer to see if it resolves the flickering problem.
5. Test the monitor on a different computer: Connect your Dell monitor to a different computer to see if the flickering issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is specific to your monitor or related to the computer's hardware or software.
6. Adjust monitor settings: On your Dell monitor, access the on-screen display (OSD) menu by using the physical buttons on the monitor. Look for any settings related to brightness, contrast, or color calibration and make adjustments if necessary. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause flickering.
7. Check for electromagnetic interference: Keep your monitor away from sources of electromagnetic interference, such as speakers, routers, or other electronic devices. These devices can sometimes interfere with the monitor's signal and cause flickering issues.
8. Contact Dell support: If the flickering issue persists after trying the above steps, it's recommended to contact Dell's customer support for further assistance. They can provide additional troubleshooting steps specific to your Dell monitor model or arrange for repair or replacement if needed.
Remember to provide as much information as possible about your monitor model and the steps you've already taken when contacting customer support.
