You'll find that's pretty much the design life of a notebook these days -- particularly consumer-grade notebooks like Inspirons and the equivalent Pavilions, IdeaPads, ASUS, Acer, etc.
You won't find the situation any different with any other sub-$1000 notebook.

If the system is under warranty, call Dell for repair. If not, you can contact Dell for a repair estimate, or contact the repair shop of your choice.

Looked after looks like new
Wouldn't touch another Dell
