Dell Inspiron burning up after 1 day of use

I purchased a Dell Inspiron less than 30 days ago at best buy in Harahan, Louisiana. I needed the laptop to take the bar exam and was going to give it to my son afterwards. I purchased Microsoft and Mcafee to protect the device. Today I plugged it in (for the first time as I take my HP to school) and the laptop and charger are hot to the touch. The salesman worked for Dell and was so busy trying to make a sell he didn't care to mention that the computer is a hot box, flooded with problems. I can't afford my laptop exploding during the bar exam or freezing or harming my child for charging it. It is past the 15 days to return the product so I will have to spend another $1,000 on a new HP. I don't game, I don't know how to change the setting on the battery and shouldn't have to. I purchased the computer to complete basic functions, it is unreasonable to change every setting on the laptop for it to complete basic functions like charging.

If you've never turned the system on, it's probably busy with updates.  Once those are done, the system should return to a more normal state of operation.  If it doesn't, you have a warranty - call for repair.
