dell inspiron 17r 5737 wifi bt card update

Inspiron 17R 5737

Inspiron 17R 5737

Greetings. I want to update my laptop. Found a Wi-Fi card module Intel Wireless-AC 7260 Mini PCI-e.
I have two questions:
Will this card be blocked by hardware? If so, what is the solution?
Will it work correctly with old antennas? Is it necessary to replace it with new ones? If changing to new ones, how to choose the right ones?
Thanks community!

You will need the half minicard (mini PCIe format) -- not the M.2 (aka NGFF) format, which will not work with your system.  Make sure you uninstall the drivers for the existing card before you shut down to physically install the new one and the upgrade should go just fine.

As with most things AI, take the recommendations with a grain of salt.  They appear as boilerplate generic bulleted lists, with some pertinent information along with the rest of the babble that's present.  There's plenty of it here on the forums.

No, Dell hasn't used wifi whitelists the way other system manufacturers have.

@ejn63 Super! Because wife has a Lenovo. They even struggled there in search of a battery...
If our Dell does not suffer from such things - it's really great. Thank you.
I will then order a set of boards and antennas

The other thing to bear in mind is that your Inspiron has no support for Windows 11 -- and with Windows 10 running to end of life in late 2025, it may be time to weigh the upgrade against the limited time it has left for running a supported Windows OS.

The patch that allows Windows 11 to work on unsupported systems does work for now, but Microsoft has made statements recently that a near term update will lock out unsupported systems, so I would not count on that being the case for much longer.

Linux is indeed an option as well.
