Dell Inspiron 15 5555 screen can it burn out a Motherboard
Question if I may as I am thinking about fixing my dell it is a Dell Inspiron 15 5555 (P66F) Touchscreen Laptop that the MB smoked on me and not sure if it was because of the screen cable or screen or the motherboard itself, how likely is it for a screen would short out a motherboard ? as it was just the MB that was the problem I was going to buy a new motherboard for a Dell Inspiron 15 5565 Touchscreen and replace it for $26.00 but if it is the cable or the screen will it just short it out again and the new motherboard would be wasted
So can a Screen or Bad Video cable short out a Motherboard?
Thank you

Bear in mind you can purchase a complete, working used system for $50 or so - but I would not connect the existing screen to a replacement board without at least checking it for short circuits. With a system with as little value left as this one has, it's easy to exceed the system value with just one repair attempt.

The answer is absolutely yes, it can. The backlight power supply is high voltage -- it can easily fry a mainboard if it's connected when powered on, or it there's a short in the display cable (or the display itself).

so than I would need to buy a screen as if I buy a motherboard again it may happen to me again and if I buy a new cable and the screen is the problem the cable will not help as it will short again from the screen if tat is the problem
