Dell Inspiron 15 3520 – Screen Flickering Issue After Windows Update
Hi, I’m having an issue with my Dell Inspiron [Model Number] after the latest Windows update. The screen started flickering intermittently, especially when I open multiple applications or use certain programs. I’ve tried restarting, checking the display drivers, and even rolling back the update, but the issue persists. Has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution? Any suggestions would be really helpful!
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
The screen flickering issue after a Windows update is likely caused by driver conflicts or software settings. Since the LCD BIST passed, the hardware seems to be fine. Here are some steps you can try:
1. Update Graphics Drivers
Windows + X > Device Manager
).2. Adjust Refresh Rate
3. Disable Hardware Acceleration
4. Perform a Clean Boot
Windows + R
), typemsconfig
, and press Enter.5. Roll Back Display Driver
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it could be a bug introduced by the recent update. You may want to report the issue to Microsoft or Dell Support for further assistance.
Let us know how it goes!
Please update me on your findings. If the problem persists, feel free to share additional details, and we’ll be happy to assist further.

Could you perform LCD BIST and let me know if the issue still occurs there?
Results Analysis:
Test system with AC adapter disconnected.

Thank you for the detailed steps. I followed the instructions and performed the LCD BIST test. The screen displayed the colors without any abnormalities, so it seems like the issue might be related to the GPU, drivers, or cable connections. I also tested the system with the AC adapter disconnected, and the issue persists. I’ll check for driver updates and recheck the cable connections. If the issue continues, I’ll reach out with additional details. Thanks again for your help!

Before continuing down the AI generated list, uninstall whatever update you applied. Does that solve the problem?

I’ve had a similar issue with screen flickering after a Windows update. Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in the apps where it happens most? Sometimes that helps. Also, maybe check if Dell has any updated display drivers or a firmware update on their support site—it could be specific to your laptop model.
