DELL Inspiron 15 3000 RAM
This laptop is absolutely unfit for purpose. Why ever was it designed with only 4Mb of RAM? It's performance is unbelievably poor.
Is there a safe way to increase the size of the RAM to make it in anyway usable?
I just want to smash it up with a hammer, it's so frustrating. And I am usually a patient person.
I only want to use it for email and simple Excel/ Word work?
Thank you for any advice!

Unless it's an older system, it is probably upgradeable. It was sold with 4G RAM to keep the price down -- which in turn is probably why you purchased it. If you want to know the upgrade possibilities, post the full model number -- Inspiron 3501, 5593, etc. The full model number will show on the main setup screen (F2 a few times at powerup to access).
While in there, check the type of storage device - if it's a spinning hard drive, that should be replaced with a solid state drive.

^And that's assuming that you want to pay the inflated prices for RAM and a solid state drive in order to upgrade and boost performance. You maybe better off purchasing another system by the time you total up the cost of the upgrades.
